Meet Brandon Smith, a senior zoology major at ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ from North Lima, Ohio. Smith quickly fell in love with research, while pursuing a lifelong passion for wildlife and the natural world. He plans to attend graduate school for wildlife research after the completion of his undergraduate degree.

In an unconventional professional development opportunity, first-generation, income-eligible and differently-abled students at ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ traveled to the Walt Disney World Resort alongside TRIO Student Support Services for the Leadership, Innovation and Career Seminar.

Four graduate students from the heart of Africa are embracing winter for the very first time this year on the beautiful Kent Campus.

ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½â€™s Anti-Racism and Equity Institute, in conjunction with University Libraries, on Feb. 6 will host a movie screening and panel discussion for Black History Month addressing the increasing infant mortality rate among African Americans in Northeast Ohio. 

The student organization formerly known as the Integrated Greek Council announced its new name and rebranding at a reception inside the Pepsi Leadership Center. 

The Club Management Association of America (CMAA) recently announced that the ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ chapter won the Student Chapter of the Year award for small size chapters. The award recognizes the outstanding work and successful accomplishments of student chapters.

The ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ Museum currently houses extraordinary collections of historic dress, fashion, textiles and decorative arts. More than 29,000 objects from many of the world’s great artists and designers, known and unknown, from across time and continents can be found at the museum. A new grant will help protect the longevity of these artifacts for generations to come.

ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ defeated Bowling Green, 82-74, Saturday at the Stroh Center to give head coach  his 300th career win. Starkey has won 135 games as the leader of the Golden Flashes and is now tied with Laurel Wartluft for the second most wins in program history.

On February 3, 2024, the Women’s Center will host the fourth annual Elect Her event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the May 4 Visitors Center at ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½. The event is an interactive one-day training program that educates college students on the value of having women and marginalized voices in politics.

There was an official ribbon-cutting for the new, high-tech running track that installed at the ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ Field House this summer. 

Since the summer of 1990, the Academic S.T.A.R.S. (Students Achieving and Reaching for Success) Program has been offered at ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½. E. Timothy Moore Student Multicultural Center (the Moore Center) oversees the program, which supports the successful transition of first-year students of color into the university.
