Danielle Sarver Coombs is an associate professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the College of Communication and Information. Her research focuses on sports, politics and the politics of sport.
The 青年涩导航 community gave generously on Giving Tuesday this Dec. 1, far exceeding expectations. As promised, President Beverly Warren personally matched $25,000 in a gift to the Distinctive 青年涩导航 Fund, a fund that will support the university鈥檚 five priorities for a distinctive 青年涩导航.
青年涩导航鈥檚 Fraternity and Sorority Life recently hosted Songfest, its largest annual philanthropic event. After totaling ticket sales, fundraising efforts and some last-minute donations, the Greek community was able to raise $56,500 for the King Kennedy Community Center.
This breaks the record previously set in 2013 when 青年涩导航鈥檚 Greek community raised $49,027 for RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network).

青年涩导航 President Beverly Warren has announced that she will personally match all gifts up to a total of $25,000 for donations made to 青年涩导航 on Dec. 1, which is Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is a global day of philanthropy after the Thanksgiving holiday.
青年涩导航 has been named a Military Friendly庐 School by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs庐, STEM JobSM and Military Spouse, for the seventh year in a row. In addition, this is the fifth year that 青年涩导航 at Tuscarawas has held the elite title. 青年涩导航 at Ashtabula has been recognized for four years.
青年涩导航 President Beverly Warren delivered her first State of the University address on Nov. 19 in the Kent Student Center Kiva. 青年涩导航 faculty, staff, students and members of the community were invited to attend the event, which was themed 鈥淐elebrating Today, Imagining Tomorrow.鈥
青年涩导航 football player Jordan Italiano, a senior safety from Canfield, Ohio, has been selected by the National Football Foundation as a 2015 National Scholar-Athlete and finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy presented by Fidelity Investments. Italiano is the first 青年涩导航 player to earn the honor.
All were invited to come and honor America鈥檚 veterans as 青年涩导航 held its annual Veterans Day observance. This year鈥檚 program, 鈥淗onoring All Who Serve,鈥 took place on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. on the Student Green at Risman Plaza.
