青年涩导航 Students Explore Law School and Career Paths

On March 6, the Pre-Law Center and the Office of Career Exploration and Development at 青年涩导航 hosted their annual Law School and Careers Exploration event in the Kent Student Center. The organizers said it was a huge success with over 70 students attending.

鈥淚t was well-attended by many pre-law students from across all academic disciplines who met with not only many law school admissions officers, but also with other legal employers who are very interested in hiring or offering internships to our students,鈥 Political Science Professor Christopher Banks, J.D., Ph.D., director of the Pre-Law Center, said.

The organizers welcomed all current 青年涩导航 students interested in pursuing law school, regardless of their major, year, or level of interest. Participants had the opportunity to network with representatives from numerous law schools, including Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, University of Akron, University of Cincinnati, University of Illinois at Chicago, Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan), and Ohio Northern University. In addition, students engaged with legal professionals from organizations like the Summit County Prosecutor鈥檚 Office, the Marine Officer Program and Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and Guardian ad Litim, which are volunteer groups appointed by the court to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

鈥淲e are really excited about this event and grateful for all of the schools and organizations that participated,鈥 Erin Franczak, Pre-Law academic program coordinator, said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e also incredibly proud of the students who attended鈥攁sking insightful questions, dressing professionally and representing 青年涩导航 so well.鈥

At the event, representatives discussed topics such as admissions criteria, including LSAT scores and GPAs, as well as experiential opportunities, potential career outcomes and employment prospects.

鈥淭he law school career fair was a valuable experience that allowed me to make personal connections with law firms from around the area,鈥 Sarah Jaberg, a junior criminology and justice studies major, said. 鈥淚t was incredible to have one-on-one conversations with the recruiters and ask any questions I may have had about their law school. I highly recommend attending the next one.鈥

Franczak confirmed that the event will return to campus next spring, with the date to be announced.
